6 Tips for elimination of insomnia

 Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder; the patient suffers from lack of sleeping hours, which negatively affects physical and mental condition of the body.

Insomnia has many forms and patterns; some may find difficulty in starting sleep, while others wake up after few hours and can't continue sleeping. Also some people wake up early and feel tired.

To eliminate insomnia and enjoy enough hours of sleep; the following tips should be in mind:

  1. Most people use hypnotic drugs to eliminate insomnia; it's completely wrong and destructive choice. Misuse or long-term use has many adverse effects and may exacerbate insomnia. Using of these medications should be under complete medical supervision.
  2. For smokers, it's advised to avoid smoking 1-2 hours before bedtime; cigarettes contain nicotine which is a stimulant and may cause insomnia.
  3. Your bedroom should be allocated for sleep only, so taking your laptop or mobile phone to your room isn't allowed.
  4. Don't watch horror or violent movies at the few hours before bedtime; it has a direct stimulant effect on your nervous system.
  5. Regular circadian rhythm (biological clock) is very effective strategy for elimination of insomnia; you should keep fixed schedule for bedtime and waking up.
  6. Hot bath and cup of warm milk just before bedtime will trigger your body to produce high levels of endorphins, which will help you to relax and fall in sleep.
