The patient came to the Interventional Radiology Unit under the supervision of Dr. Abd Elmoneim Murad, Consultant and Head of Radiology Department where the patient suffered from several symptoms such as urinary incontinence, frequent urination during the day and night and repeated urinary warming. The method of treatment is to inject the artery supplying the prostate with a medical substance by arterial catheterization under the local anesthetic only by closing the nourishing artery, this leads to gradual atrophy and shrinkage of the prostate by between 40 to 70%. This is the latest method in the world for treatment of prostatic hyperplasia without surgical intervention to avoid postoperative complications. SGH-Riyadh is one of the first hospitals in the Kingdom to conduct this technique.
